  Cabinet work - Laundry Room

Remember those old kitchen cabinets that I replaced?  Well here is what I did with a couple of them.

The laundry room had a single metal shelf above the washer and dryer for storage. Not very adequate and certainly not very attractive.  My wife wanted regular cabinets, and what better way to give them to her than reuse the old kitchen cabinets!  Of course some improvements on their looks needed to be made.

First I removed the metal shelf (which now has a home in the garage) and hung one of the single cabinets and one of the double cabinets that had been in the kitchen. I then trimmed the face of the cabinets with fluted trim and rosettes and replaced the old door hinges with new, white hinges. The tall broom cabinet on the end had to be made from scratch. The bottom half is home to the vacuum, broom, dustpan and mop. The top holds the bucket and cleaning solution.

After the cabinets were finished my wife then painted everything a light cream color. Then I added some decorative corners to the doors as well as some handles.  Now she has extra storage in the laundry room that is not only functional but attractive as well! And, since we used the old kitchen cabinets for all but one section,  it cost very little money to install them. Hard to believe those are the old kitchen cabinets now!

We bought a new washer and dryer, painted the walls a light blue, added some wainscoting and new wallpaper border, crown molding, ceramic floor tile, and a small corner shelf to place the laundry baskets on, and we have a brand new laundry room.
