  Wooden ModelsCoast Guard Cutter

One of my hobbies is making wooden models.  I take several pictures of the actual item I want to make, then come up with my own pattern to make the model. At the right is a model I did of a Coast Guard cutter.

This is a Coast Guard HH65 "Dolphin" helicopter that I made. I put working clocks in both of these models.

Victoria Express (first model)

This is the first model that I built of the Victoria Express ferry. Someone must have really liked it because it was stolen from the display case at the Victoria Express offices.

Victoria Express (second model)

Here is the second model that I did of the Victoria Express. I made this one a little differently from the first. It's got a longer body and more closely resembles the real boat.  I put little people on this boat, something I hadn't done on the first boat, to add to the realism of the model.

Victoria Express II

A second boat was purchased and it was named the Victoria Express II. This meant another model was needed.  When this model was finished it was agreed by everyone that it was the best one yet. I know I was pretty pleased with how it came out.

The owners of the Victoria Express take these models with them when they go around the country doing marketing. These little boats have seen more of the country than I have!

In addition to making these models for the Victoria Express, I also have done their parade float for them the last few years.  Click here to take a look at it.

My father-in-law worked for the Alaska Marine Highway from 1974 to 1999. For his birthday in January of 2009 I made a model of an Alaska State Ferry for him.

I thought it came out pretty nice, and he was thrilled. I've been told that everyone that sees it loves it.

This one I also made a glass display case for.

I hope you enjoyed my models, thanks for stopping by.
